Recoverable reserves of East Messoyakha field increased by 32%
16 January 2015Recoverable oil and condensate reserves of C1 category of the East Messoyakha field increased by 49.7 mln t (32% growth) in 2014 , reaching 204 mln tons. The net recoverable oil and condensate reserves of C1+C2 categories of West Messoyakha and East Messoyakha fields totals about 480 mln tons. The results of current estimate were successfully approved by the State Reserves Commission.
A significant part of reserves was transferred from the preliminary qualified category (C2) to the commercial one (C1) due to geologic survey conducted at the Messoyakha fields group in 2013-2014. Particularly, in 2014 4 exploration wells were drilled and 3D seismic data acquisition on 490 square km territory was conducted. Also a geologic model, on the basis of which a first-stage area was prepared for full-scale development, was adjusted.
Further refinement of East Messoyakha geologic model and start of prospecting work at unexplored prospect objects of East Messoyakha and West Messoyakha fields are scheduled for 2015. Full-scale development of the Messoyakha cluster will start in 2016 after the construction of the Zapolyarye-Purpe trunk pipeline system, which will transport crude of most northern oil fields of Russia.

Notes for Editors: The Messoyakha project includes East Messoyakha and West Messoyakha fields. Messoyakhaneftegaz, equally controlled by Gazprom Neft and Rosneft, possesses licenses for fields development. Gazprom Neft acts as a project operator. Fields were discovered in 1980’s and are the most northern of known onshore oil fields of Russia. They are situated at the Gydan Peninsula, in the Tazov District of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Territory, 340 km to north from the city of Novy Urengoy in arctic climatic zone with non-developed infrastructure. In October 2012 first oil from the East Messoyakha filed was produced as part of experimental-industrial work. In November 2014 construction of pressure pipeline from the Messoyakha cluster to the Zapolyarye-Purpe trunk pipeline system was started. The length of oil pipeline will total about 100 km, its peak capacity – 7 mln tons per year. |
