Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin met Vice president of the Council of Ministers of the Cuba Republic Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz during his business trip to Cuba. Cuban Minister of Energy and Mining Alfredo Lopez and General Director of Union Cuba Petroleo (CUPET) Juan Torres Naranjo also took part in the meeting.
Igor Sechin congratulated Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz with one of the main holidays in Cuba - Day of the National Rebellion and noted the importance of cooperation in the energy sector between the two counties.
During the meeting the parties discussed the implementation of Rosneft and Cupet joint projects including cooperation for the enhanced oil recovery at the Cuban brownfields. The parties also emphasized successful cooperation in the education of Cuban students at the Russian universities.

Rosneft and CUPET signed memorandum of cooperation for projects implementation in Cuba at the St-Petersburg International Economic Forum in May 2014.
In July 2014 the parties signed a Cooperation Agreement in Havana for brownfields enhanced oil recovery in the presence Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of the Council of State of Cuba Raul Castro. The document provides for joint comprehensive studies of fields and wells development and operation conditions at the territory of Cuba in order to optimize oil production processes, improve well stock operation efficiency and execute wellworks for enhanced oil recovery.
Under international cooperation tripartite agreement Rosneft provides support for the education of Cuba Petroleо engineers at Gubkin State University of Oil and Gas by masters programs "Oil and Gas Engineering" and "Chemical Technologies". Master`s engineers can undertake internship at the Company production facilities and get to know modern oil and gas production technologies.
