Zohr Gas Output Reaches 76 MCMD

22 August 2019

The consortium of Eni, Rosneft, BP, and Mubadala Petroleum continues the successful implementation of the Zohr gas project on the Mediterranean shelf together with Egyptian oil and gas companies. The project’s gas production has been increased by 12% to 76 million cubic metres per day (2.7 billion cubic feet per day) and thus it has reached its design capacity.

The design capacity was achieved five months ahead of the Plan of Development due to the start-up of the second 30-inch pipeline connecting the offshore subsea production facilities to the onshore gas treatment plant.

After the project’s launch in December 2017, its development is going ahead of schedule. In a year and a half, 12 production wells, all eight trains of the gas treatment plant, four marine pipelines, and an offshore control platform have been commissioned. The field gas output amounted to 11.3 billion cubic metres of gas in H1 2019.

The Middle East projects’ implementation is one of Rosneft’s strategic development areas. The Company’s contribution to the development of the unique Zohr field jointly with global majors and its strategic partners strengthen its presence in the promising and pivotal region.

Note for Editors:

Zohr is the largest gas field in the Mediterranean. It was discovered in 2015. The project is being implemented as a concession between Italian Eni S.p.A. (operator, 50%), Rosneft (30%), British BP (10%), and UAE’s Mubadala Petroleum (10%).
