RN-Uvatneftegaz (an enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company’s upstream complex) has planted more than 3 million pine seedlings in Tyumen Region over the past five years.
Forests are natural sinks for greenhouse gases. Rosneft traditionally pays special attention to reforestation. The Company and its subsidiaries plant seedlings of various tree species on a regular basis. In 2021 alone, the Company’s enterprises planted around 9.3 million young trees across Russia.
Another planting event has been held by RN-Uvatneftegaz employees in September as part of the Save the Forest nationwide campaign arranged annually from August through November in all Russia’s regions under the auspices of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology and the Federal Forestry Agency. During the event, volunteers from Tyumen Region planted 79,000 pine seedlings across 18 hectares. The seedlings were planted in the Vinzilinskoye district forestry.
Rosneft’s approaches to forestry and reforestation are outlined in the public position “Preserving the planet for the benefit of present and future generations: sustainable forest management”.
As part of its strategy “Rosneft 2030: credible strategy and global energy transition”, the Company strives to avoid damaging natural ecosystems in its operations and sets long-term targets for their conservation and sustainable development.
Rosneft was Russia’s first oil and gas company to publicly commit to the UN’s 17 goals. In December 2018, the Company’s Board of Directors approved the public stance “Rosneft: Contribution to the Implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN”.
