Under a complex programme for support for indigenous minorities of the North, RN-Uvatneftegaz (an enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company’s upstream complex) purchased the equipment necessary for traditional occupations and allocated it among indigenous families of Uvat District in Tyumen Region. Residents of remote territories received snowmobiles, boat motors and autonomous power generators.
The Company has been implementing the programme for support for indigenous minorities of the North since 2014. For the last five years, the Company has handed over to the families of indigenous minorities of the North over 70 units of equipment of the same kind.
Support for indigenous minorities of the North is one of the key priorities of Rosneft’s social policy. The Company implements activities aimed to preserve cultural heritage, traditions and lifestyle and to improve living conditions of indigenous minorities of the North in its operating regions.
RN-Uvatneftegaz cooperates with Uvat District administration, Siberia and the Far East Foundation for Development of Indigenous Minorities of the North and other organisations supporting representatives of Khanty, Mansi and Evenki. Indigenous people are given an opportunity to use winter roads of the Company and are provided with fuel.
Moreover, since 2017, the Ust-Tegusskoye field hosts a unique project - a fair of Uvat District indigenous products. The event is not only an opportunity for representatives of indigenous minorities to sell their traditional products but also an effective platform for fostering dialogue with district administration and representatives of the oil-producing enterprise.
In addition, the oilmen provided support for the creation of the Tyumen ethnographic village Uvas Mir Hot (A House of Northern People) which hosts cultural outdoor events and activities aimed at popularization and preservation of traditions of indigenous minorities of Tyumen Region.
