Rosneft, the Government of the Sverdlovsk region and the Nizhny Tagil Administration signed a 10-year concession agreement for the development of a heat supply complex in Nizhny Tagil. According to the document, the Company receives the right to operate 25 municipal boiler houses, 22 pumping stations and 224 km of heating networks, which provide 40% of heat supply to Nizhny Tagil, the second largest city in the region.
The agreement includes the construction of two gas-fired boiler houses with a total capacity of 97 MW, the reconstruction of heat sources and heat networks using modern energy-saving technologies. These measures will ensure the leveraging of state and municipal property and significantly improve the quality of services provided to the city’s consumers in the housing and utilities sectors.
Rosneft has been a reliable partner of the Sverdlovsk region for many years, supplying natural gas to the region and ensuring a stable heat supply to consumers. As part of the strategic goals set by the President of the Russian Federation, V.V. Putin, for the development of public-private partnerships in the energy sector, the Company is modernising the existing housing and utility infrastructure, including the construction of new modern gas-fired boiler houses in the region.
Previously, the Company implemented significant projects in the region: in 2018-2019, two modern boiler houses with a capacity of 20 MW and 36 MW were built in Irbit, as well as 50 km of heating networks; in 2021-2022, ten new automated gas-fired boiler houses with a capacity of 106 MW were built to replace low-efficiency coal-fired ones in the city of Krasnoufimsk, which reduced atmospheric emissions by 90%. Five boiler houses are currently under construction in Nizhny Tagil as part of the Federal Clean Air Project.
All of the measures taken to modernise the region’s housing and communal facilities not only reduce the specific consumption of gas and electricity, but will also significantly reduce the environmental impact, reduce pollutant emissions, and thus improve the quality of life in the region, as well as the reliability and energy security of the Sverdlovsk region.
