Rosneft specialists took part in the annual Congress “Innovative practice: science plus business” organized by Innopraktika in cooperation with Lomonosov Moscow State University.  The key theme of the 10th Anniversary Congress was effective interaction between science, business, culture and authorities to achieve Russia's technological sovereignty.

Representatives of Russian companies, government agencies and research institutes discussed, among other things, development of technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) and their practical application for scientific and production tasks. The Company's employees spoke about their own software products, which already cover all oil production and refining processes, and outperform foreign analogues in terms of speed and complexity of addressed challenges.

Corporate software line includes more than 40 modules for engineering calculations using machine learning and neural network technologies. AI algorithms are used to develop, in particular, a module for selecting and justifying optimal well placement for fields with hard-to-recover reserves. Using the classical approach, this requires tens of thousands of hydrodynamic calculations. The unique software makes it possible to reduce the amount of calculations for a particular field by thousands of times through preliminary self-learning.

Other innovative developments of Rosneft were discussed during the Congress as well. Among them was a biopreparation based on cold-water microorganisms for cleaning northern seas from chronic hydrocarbon pollution. The preparation was developed jointly with Innopraktika specialists and is currently being tested at the Belomorskaya biological station of the Moscow State University.
