Specialists from Tyumenneftegaz (an enterprise of the Rosneft Oil Company) summarised the results of a grant project to study Lake Solyonoye, a natural monument of regional importance, at a round table with the participation of the scientific community and experts.
In 2022, scientists from Tyumen State University conducted a comprehensive ecological and biological study of the Solyonoye Lake. During fieldwork, scientists recorded 428 species of flora and fauna around the lake, some of which are listed in Red Books of various levels.
In 2023, researchers from Tyumen State University, supported by Tyumen oil workers, continued their work to preserve the unique natural monument. To this end, four ecological trails have been developed, taking into account the habitat of Red Book plants and animals. Tourists can choose between a 5 km walk, 32 km by car or 22 km on horseback along the shores of the Solyonoye, Savino and Tundrovo lakes. Eco-tourists with children can take a 2 km path.
Each route includes information points, animal feeding stations, artificial bird nesting sites and historical and cultural sites. The trails are created to preserve the unique coastal nature, to develop and improve the level of environmental education and ecological culture of both adults and the younger generation.
The participants of the roundtable, which included representatives of the Ecological Chamber of Russia, the Tyumen Regional Branch of the Russian Ecological Society, and scientists from the Tyumen State University, noted that the design of ecological trails based on in-depth scientific research is one of the effective tools for achieving the national development goals of the federal project «Conservation of Biological Diversity and Development of Ecological Tourism». According to experts, the approach and results of this project are worthy of study and wide replication within the framework of the best scientific practices of ecological tourism development in national parks and promotion of the complex tourist product at the Russian and international level.
Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company has a number of comprehensive programmes for the conservation and restoration of natural resources, including the use of modern technology.
