The first meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of Rosneft Oil Company and the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Japan (ANRE) has been held in Tokyo. The Memorandum to establish the Committee was executed during the 5th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in 2019 in order to develop strategic energy cooperation and to expedite implementation of new joint projects.
The Parties discussed the progress of ongoing joint projects, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation in the areas of oil & gas exploration and production, development of petrochemical business in Russia and third countries, implementation of potential LNG projects and hydrocarbon trading, as well as participation of Japanese companies in Rosneft Oil Company procurement procedures and interaction in development of technology and innovation.
As part of the Committee’s agenda, Rosneft’s executives also conducted a number of fruitful bilateral business meetings with representatives of major Japanese energy companies, and the companies operating in petrochemistry and engineering.
Simultaneously, Rosneft’s executives participated in a seminar with Japanese business community attended by the representatives of about 40 Japanese companies, management of the ANRE, as well as the Russian Trade Mission and the Russian Embassy in Japan.

Rosneft has a long history of successful cooperation with Japanese partners. In 1996, the Company attracted a pool of foreign companies, including SODECO, to the Sakhalin-1 project. The Government of Japan, Japex, Itochu, Marubeni, Inpex are the shareholders of the company.
At the end of 2018, Rosneft supplied 1.8 million tonnes of oil and 1.1 million tonnes of petroleum-based products to Japan.
