In the course of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Rosneft President Chairman of the Management Board Igor Sechin awarded laureates of an international energy prize ‘Global Energy’.
This year, the laureates are RAS member Ashot Sarkisov and Swedish scientist Lars Larsen. They were honored with the award for an outstanding contribution to the nuclear safety enhancement and nuclear facility decommissioning.
Last year, the laureates of the 2013 prize were Vladimir Fortov, RAS president and the director of the Joint Institute for High Temperatures, and Akira Yoshino , a Japanese scientist, who became famous for the invention of lithium-ion batteries.
The International Global Energy Prize has been awarded since 2003 in Russia for outstanding scientific researches and solutions in global energy research. So far, famous Russian scientists, such as the Noble Prize laureate Zhores Alferov, academics Gennady Mesyats, Oleg Favorsky, Philip Rutberg have got the prize. Scientists of USA, Germany, Japan, Canada, UK, and Iceland were also the laureates of the award.
